Create a DM Auto-Responder

DM Auto-Responders automatically send a reply when a fan sends a direct message to your Instagram account. This can be used to share links, answer common questions, deliver content, or guide fans toward specific actions.

Create the Automation

  1. Open Action Flows.

  2. Click New Action Flow.

  3. Select When a Fan Sends a DM as the trigger.

Configure the Trigger

Respond to Any Message

To respond to every incoming DM:

  1. Leave the keyword setting set to Any.

Any message received by your Instagram account will activate the automation.

Respond to Specific Keywords

To respond only when certain words or phrases are included:

  1. Change the keyword setting from Any to Specific.

  2. Enter one or more keywords.

Only messages containing those keywords will activate the automation.

Add a Message Action

  1. Click Add an Action.

  2. Select Send an Instagram Message.

  3. Enter your response message.

Example: "Thanks for reaching out! Tap the button below to access the latest release."

Add Buttons

To add a button:

  1. Click Add a Button.

  2. Enter a label.

  3. Enter a destination URL.

Buttons can be used to send fans to:

  • Music releases

  • Tour dates

  • Merchandise

  • Landing pages

  • Exclusive content

Save the Automation

Click Save to activate the automation.

Once active, qualifying messages will automatically receive the configured response.

Best Practices

  • Keep replies short and clear.

  • Use buttons whenever possible.

  • Make sure links lead directly to the intended destination.

  • Use keyword triggers to create targeted fan experiences.
