Create a Comment-to-DM Automation
Comment-to-DM automations automatically send fans a direct message on Instagram when they comment on one of your posts — a fast way to deliver links, exclusive content, pre-save campaigns, and promotional offers.
🚀 Comment-to-DM automations are available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
Start the Automation
Open Action Flows from the left sidebar.
Click New Flow in the top right.
In the Create a new Action Flow window, select Instagram from the template categories on the left (or leave All Templates selected).
Choose the Comment to DM template.
This opens the flow editor with the trigger and a Send a DM action already added for you.
Name Your Automation
Under Name, give your automation a name to make it easy to find later (for example, "Comment to DM flow"). This name is for your own reference and fans never see it.
Configure the Trigger
Under Trigger, choose which comments should start the automation.
Choose Which Post
Select Any post to trigger from a comment on any of your Instagram posts.
Select Specific post to trigger only from comments on one post, then choose the post from the thumbnails shown.
Choose Which Words
Select Any words to trigger on any comment.
Select Specific words to trigger only when a comment includes certain words, then type each word or phrase and press Enter to add it.
You can combine a specific post with specific words for a more targeted automation.
Configure the Actions
The Send a DM action controls what happens after the trigger fires.
Reply to Comment (Optional)
Turn on Reply to comment if you also want Sonikit to post a public reply to the fan's comment, in addition to sending the DM. If you turn this on, enter the reply text (for example, "Just sent the link!"). This step is optional — leave the toggle off if you only want the DM to send.
Message
Enter the message fans will receive in their DM (for example, "Here's the link!").
Buttons
To add a button fans can tap to go straight to your music or products:
Click Add a button.
In the New DM Link window, enter a Label (for example, "New Vinyl") and the destination URL.
Click Add link.
The button appears attached to your message in the preview on the right, and fans who tap it are taken directly to that link.
You can add more than one action, and adjust any of these settings again later before or after saving.
Save and Activate
Click Save in the top right.
Your automation is created and starts running right away — you'll see a confirmation, and it will appear under Your Action Flows on the Action Flows page with an Active status.
Manage the Automation
From the Action Flows page, use the ••• menu on your automation's row to edit, pause, or delete it at any time.
